West Ham want Ibrahim Sangare and may now turn to the PSV Eindhoven star after Everton pipped them to signing Lille star Amadou Onana.

The Hammers have spent much of the summer transfer window attempting to lure Onana from Lille to East London.

After failing with a number of bids, West Ham appeared to have secured their man in a big £33.5million move – but then it all went wrong.

Everton matched West Ham’s bid and managed to convince Onana that they were a better destination for him than West Ham.

Despite narrowly dodging relegation last season, Everton have managed to pinch Onana from under the noses of last season’s Europa League semi-finalists.

West Ham must now pick themselves up and find another midfielder to target with David Moyes still chasing new signings.

Onana is a tall and athletic holding midfielder, so it may be isn’t a surprise to see West Ham target another player in a similar mould.

The Daily Mail report that West Ham are now weighing up a bid to sign PSV Eindhoven star Sangare.

It’s stated that Sangare is valued at around £25million, which would make him cheaper than Onana.

Sangare is just two inches shorter than Onana and has much, much more experience.

For all of Onana’s potential, he has started just 25 league games in his career across spells at Hamburg and Lille.

Sangare, on the other hand, started 26 league games last season alone. The 24-year-old has racked up almost 150 appearances in his career across spells with Toulouse and PSV.

Sangare plays for the Ivory Coast alongside new West Ham signing Maxwel Cornet and joining forces in East London may be very appealing.

Back in May, Dutch newspaper Voetbal International reported that Liverpool were keen on signing Sangare as an alternative target to Aurelien Tchouameni.

That move didn’t materialise and with Everton now on the verge of signing Onana, West Ham may now be able to swoop to snatch Sangare.
