West Ham hierarchy more worried about stadium compliments than the team

West Ham United fans have been left fuming by the actions of the club’s hierarchy once again this summer.

The Hammers have angered fans with a lack of recruitment so far this summer with only free transfer Pablo Zabaleta signed so far.

It comes off the back of a terrible year of transfer activity which saw the club dilute Slaven Bilic’s squad with a glut of poor signings.

Loans and free transfers were the reality despite grand promises of marquee signings in their first season at the Olympic Stadium.

Then in January the club paid way over the odds for distinctly average footballers splashing £18m on the ageing Jose Fonte and midfielder Robert Snodgrass all while losing one of their star players of the last decade Dimitri Payet for a paltry £25 million.

It was reflected in the team’s performances last year as West Ham struggled to an 11th place finish in the Premier League, in stark contrast to their record breaking season the year before.

More promises of “four game-changer” signings were made ahead of the season ticket renewal deadline this summer.

And West Ham fans have yet again shown their outstanding loyalty by selling out 52,000 season tickets for a second successive season despite many having reservations over their new home ground and the promises being made by the owners.

But those fans have been annoyed by the Hammers hierarchy’s refusal to acknowledge any criticism.

Supporters feel David Gold and Karren Brady only ever reply or acknowledge positive comments complimenting the stadium or the job they and David Sullivan are doing.

Of course the owners could get those disgruntled supporters onside by simply showing the ambition they promised in the transfer market when insisting they had to leave Upton Park.

Links to the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Joe Hart and Javier Hernandez have visibly excited fans.

But should they fail to land them as was the case with Henry Onyekuru and seemingly Kelechi Iheanacho then the murmurs or discontent will grow ever louder.
