West Ham United are competing with West Bromwich Albion for Watford striker Troy Deeney, according to The Daily Star.

It has been reported that West Ham have inquired about signing Deeney before the summer transfer window in England closes this month.

West Brom – who are playing in the Premier League this season after winning promotion from the Championship – have also inquired about the 32-year-old, with Watford open to offers for the striker, according to the report.

The Hornets are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League.

Would Troy Deeney make West Ham United better?

Deeney is a proven Premier League striker who scores goals and is a leader on the pitch.

Described as “very vocal” who “gets the best out of players” by Watford midfielder Will Hughes in The Watford Observer in July 2020, the 32-year-old remains a striker who can still play at the highest level, and he could be a big player for West Ham in big moments.

According to WhoScored, Deeney scored 10 goals and provided two assists in the Premier League last season, while back in 2018-19, he scored nine goals and provided five assists in the league.
