West Ham United have told David Moyes that Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun is too expensive.
That is according to FootballTransfers.
The outlet claims that Moyes only has eyes for Folarin Balogun right now but has been informed by West Ham that his price tag is too high.
A report from Sky Sports last month claimed that Arsenal value the 22-year-old at £50m.
It comes after his impressive loan spell at Reims, where he scored 21 goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances and was described as “unbelievable” by manager Will Still.
West Ham are in the market for a new striker after selling Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta. The Italian left the Hammers after just one season at the London Stadium.
West Ham’s position is understandable
While Moyes may be desperate for West Ham to sign Balogun before the transfer window closes in September, you can understand why the east London club are reluctant to splash the cash on the USA international.
Last season was his first real bright one in senior football. For Arsenal to now value him at £50m and West Ham to then go and pay that seems a bit mad.

You can make the argument that you are buying potential here, but the Hammers are not Chelsea or Manchester City, who are able to flush away expensive mistakes and quickly replace them.
From what he showed last season, there is a very good chance that Balogun could come in for West Ham now and deliver. But at £50m, it feels like too much of a gamble.
If they can get him for a lower fee or possibly on loan, then the Arsenal man is definitely an option worth considering as Moyes looks to bring in another No.9. But if not, it may be wise for the Scotsman to turn elsewhere.
