West Ham are targeting Gianluca Scamacca and haven’t been put off by Sassuolo’s demands for a deal worth around €45million.
The Hammers landed Nayef Aguerd from Rennes last week and are now ramping up their recruitment drive.
Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is set to join permanently whilst Jesse Lingard and Arnaut Danjuma are both wanted.
The key signing will be a striker though, with Michail Antonio in need of support in the final third.
Sebastien Haller still hasn’t been replaced since leaving for Ajax in January 2021 and a new centre forward has to be signed this summer.

One name that emerged last week was Sassuolo hitman Scamacca.
90Min suggested that West Ham had made contact with Sassuolo over a potential deal for the Italian international striker.
Gazzetta dello Sport now claim that Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus have all backed away and moved on to other targets.
West Ham allegedly aren’t scared off by the €45million (£39million) asking price whilst Paris Saint-Germain are also in the mix.
Scamacca, 23, racked up 16 goals in 36 Serie A games last season, becoming one of the top strikers in Italy.
A giant presence at 6ft 5in tall, Scamacca would bring a real target man presence to West Ham.
The Hammers did though have problems with a big target man in Haller and would hope for better from Scamacca.
This would be a huge addition for West Ham and a deal would mean Arsenal miss out.
Edu was reportedly pushing for Scamacca to join Arsenal as the Gunners desperately chase a new striker this summer.
Arsenal scouts loved Scamacca but the Gunners now appear to be closing in on Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus as their new striker signing.
That could now leave the door open for West Ham to swoop in for Scamacca, with rising hope that he could be East London-bound this summer.
