West Ham United continue to be linked with some of Europe’s top strikers but will they get any through the door?

According to a report from Sky Sports, West Ham United have joined the race to sign Eupen striker Henry Onyekuru this summer, and while that is yet another exciting name to add to their list of targets, will the Hammers actually get any quality deals over the line when the transfer window officially opens later this week?
If the rumour mill is to be believed West Ham are targeting all the right players, with the likes of Onyekuru, Michy Batshuayi (the Sun) and Kelechi Iheanacho (Sky Sports) all linked with summer switches to the London Stadium.

They are three of the best young forwards in the game right now and any of them would be a considerable upgrade on West Ham’s current options.
The problem is, Hammers fans have heard it all before, with Slaven Bilic linked with some top signings last summer only to end up with Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri.
This year could be different, yet wanting a player and actually getting them are two very different things. As a result, it will be all about negotiation this summer, with the Hammers unable to offer their top targets the European football many of their direct rivals are set to enjoy.

West Ham are on the verge of something great, with a wonderful new stadium, a good manager and a whole host of talented teenagers coming through the ranks.
But they need to back that up with sound investment and it will be interesting to see if it is another summer of regret or one their supporters look back on as a significant turning point.
