The Cottagers captain and Scotland international was reportedly on the Hammers radar in January.

Fulham captain and reported West Ham United target Tom Cairney has signed a new five-year deal at Craven Cottage, the club announced on Friday.
The 28-year-old midfielder’s new deal will keep him at the West London outfit until 2024, although it could be extended by a further year.
According to the Daily Mail, Cairney’s salary was set to be cut by 30 percent after Fulham’s Premier League tenure came to an end after just one season.
The report goes on to claim that his new contract no longer features the pay cut and will see him remain on £60,000 per week ahead of the Cottagers’ Championship return.
Cairney has been one of Fulham’s better players in a largely dismal season in which they struggled to compete in the top flight amid numerous expensive yet fruitless signings and three different managers at the helm.

During the January transfer window, The Sun (5/1; page 63) reported that West Ham were plotting a fresh bid for Cairney after failing to land the Fulham ace with two bids in the past.
The report suggested that the Hammers had seen two offers rejected during David Moyes’s tenure, the latter bid worth £18million, and in January the Cottagers reportedly wanted £25million for the twice-capped Scotland international.
With Cairney not only committing to a long-term contract but also stating that says he wants to “stay for a long time, and hopefully finish my career here”, it looks as though that avenue is now completely closed.
