Fulham want Issa Diop and now look set to sign the defender after agreeing a deal with West Ham United.

The Cottagers had a very decent start to the new Premier League season having drawn 2-2 with Liverpool at Craven Cottage.

Aleksandar Mitrovic twice put Fulham in front but Liverpool wouldn’t go away, securing a point in West London.

This will give Marco Silva’s men real hope of a strong season, with Premier League survival the ultimate goal right now.

More signings will be needed and it looks like Fulham are closing in on a capture they have wanted for a while now.

Fulham want Issa Diop

Fulham have been keen to snap up defender Issa Diop from London rivals West Ham, but finding an agreement has been a problem.

It looks like the issues have vanished now though as Foot Mercato in France report that Fulham have agreed a deal with the Hammers.

It’s stated that talks have accelerated in recent hours and Fulham have agreed to pay £17million to sign Diop.

Diop is now ready to sign a five-year deal with Fulham after weeks of rumours surrounding a West Ham departure.

Diop, 25, joined West Ham for around £22million back in 2018 having shown huge promise with Toulouse.

The 6ft 4in defender impressed in his first couple of seasons but has struggled to really convince David Moyes.

After all, West Ham have now signed three centre backs under Moyes – Craig Dawson, Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd – with Diop the odd man out.

Moyes even admitted on Sunday that Diop wasn’t injured against Manchester City on Sunday and didn’t put himself forward to be involved despite West Ham’s defensive injury crisis.

It seems that West Ham are done with Diop and the deal with Fulham should now go through in the coming days.
