Michail Antonio has told West Ham’s official website that he believes the club can get into the Champions League in the future.

Antonio signed a contract extension yesterday, ending speculation over his future.

The winger has big ambition at West Ham and believes he can achieve his goals by staying at the club.

He believes the Hammers can go on and crack the top four in future seasons and that is why he committed his future to them.

Antonio said: “I’m a very ambitious person, one thing I want to do is play Champions League and me signing this contract now, in my prime years, is showing that I believe West Ham can get in to the Champions League spots.

“I believe that we can push on and that we can be involved in the top four and that is my mission and something I’m hoping we achieve.”

Antonio has earned England honours while playing for West Ham although an injury will prevent him from linking up with the squad this summer.

It is going to be tough for West Ham to battle for the top four spots in the coming seasons no matter how positive Antonio is, with Manchester United and Arsenal currently sitting outside the Champions League places this time around.

Yet Leicester City proved last season that the league does not have to be a closed shop at the top and if sensible investments are made, with the right team spirit and a fast start to the season, then Antonio’s mission may start to seem a bit more achievable rather than simply a pipe dream.
