Spurs ready to make Harry Kane the best paid English player but currently there are some surprising names ahead of him.
Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur celebrates after scoring his hat-trick goal to make it 5-1 during the Premier League match against Southampton.
This would put the striker on a par for earnings with Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea and Eden Hazard of Chelsea.

Kane would still be some off top earner Paul Pogba, however, on £290,000-a-week, while Romelu Lukaku (£250,000-a-week), Sergio Aguero, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Yaya Toure (all £220,000-a-week) would also be ahead.
Yet it would be a huge step forwards in Spurs appreciating the 24-year-old’s standing in the game after scoring an impressive 56 goals for club and country in 2017.
It would also put Kane ahead of the nine other English players who currently earn more than his £110,000-a-week – a wage that matches Red Devils winger Ashley Young as things stand.

At the moment City’s Raheem Sterling is the highest earner from the nation on £180,000-a-week and has admittedly had a brilliant season to date himself.
However, behind him is Daniel Sturridge on £150,000-a-week despite being in and out of the Liverpool team, while United outcast Luke Shaw and Kyle Walker are next on £130,000-a-week.
West Ham United loanee Joe Hart, who has recently been dropped for poor performances, earns £120,000-a-week along with Phil Jones, James Milner and Chris Smalling, while Everton forward Wayne Rooney picks up £115,000-a-week.
