West Ham United are interested in signing Nice central defender Flavius Daniliuc ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
The Athletic claimed last week that Daniliuc is one player on West Ham’s radar as they desperately chase defensive additions.
Angelo Ogbonna is out for the season whilst Kurt Zouma’s recent injury has really exacerbated the defensive issues.
Daniliuc is now seen as a potential signing, just like Shakhtar Donetsk ace Mykola Matviyenko.
Whether Nice are willing to sell remains to be seen, but youngster Daniliuc could be a surprise signing in January.
Daniliuc is hardly a household name though, so here is some information on him for West Ham fans…
Who is West Ham target Flavius Daniliuc?
Daniliuc was in the ranks of Admira Wacker and Rapid Wien back in his native Austria before two incredible moves.
The centre back joined Real Madrid in 2011 and Bayern Munich in 2015, enjoying great schooling with two of the world’s top clubs.

Nice pounced for Daniliuc in 2020, and he racked up 26 first-team appearances in his first season with the club last term.
This season, Daniliuc has played 10 times in Ligue 1, attracting West Ham’s interest along the way.
With Dante and Jean-Clair Todibo starting regularly, Daniliuc has taken on more of a backup role this season.
Primarily a centre back, 20-year-old Daniliuc can also play at right back if needed, potentially giving David Moyes some versatility.
A strong and physical defender, Daniliuc is far from the finished article but could be a star for West Ham over the coming years – if they can get a deal done.
Nice are moving forward rapidly as a club and may not want to lose a player like Daniliuc, who clearly has a bright future.
