West Ham United want FIlip Kostic but Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner seemingly isn’t expecting a transfer to materialise any time soon.

Kostic was superb for Frankfurt last season, racking up seven goals and 15 assists in 42 games across all competitions.

The 29-year-old Serbia international was key to helping Frankfurt win the Europa League, beating West Ham in the semi-finals on the way.

The problem for Frankfurt is that Kostic is out of contract in 2023 and is now attracting major interest from other clubs.

There have been links to Italian clubs and even Tottenham Hotspur, but it’s West Ham who are now pushing for a deal.

West Ham United want FIlip Kostic

The Sun report that West Ham have offered a package worth £12.5million for Kostic in the hope of luring him to East London.

Frankfurt allegedly want a deal worth around £16million and West Ham remain confident of thrashing out an agreement with the Bundesliga side.

The challenge then would be to tempt Kostic into making the move given that he would be sacrificing Champions League football.

West Ham would allegedly face offering a contract worth upwards of £100,000-a-week to the Serbian in the hope of an agreement.

That would be a big commitment to a player approaching his 30’s and Frankfurt don’t seem too worried right now.

Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner has now offered his thoughts, telling Sky Germany that he is sure Kostic will be staying put despite West Ham’s pursuit.

“I don’t know what will happen until September 1st, but as of today I’m sure he’ll stay,” said Glasner.

That’s pretty confident talk from Glasner, which may leave West Ham somewhat worried about their pursuit.

West Ham have signed a big striker this week in Gianluca Scamacca, who will thrive from quality wide service.

Kostic would be able to provide that, but Frankfurt aren’t for rolling over despite his contract situation.
