The West Ham United forward could be set for a spell on the sidelines.
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini spoke to reporters after his side’s win over Cardiff last night, and delivered what sounded like worrying news concerning Marko Arnautovic, as quoted by Football.London.
The Austrian has firmly established himself as one of the Hammers’ most important players, since joining from Stoke City in the summer of 2017, so losing him for any period of time will be a huge blow for Pellegrini.
Arnie has racked up five goals and two assists in 13 Premier League outings so far this season, and when he plays well, West Ham are usually a formidable outfit.
The Austria international hobbled off after just 40 minutes against Cardiff last night, and Hammers fans would have feared the worst.
Pellegrini addressed the media after last night’s win, and suggested that the 29-year-old suffered a hamstring injury, although it is currently unclear as to how long he will be out of action, as quoted by Football.London:
“It is a hamstring injury, we will see tomorrow.”
West Ham have an incredibly busy schedule ahead of them, with seven games to come between now and January 5th, and Pellegrini will be praying that Arnautovic doesn’t miss too many of those matches.
