West Ham United need to find another striker after failing to sign Maxi Gomez.
West Ham United’s hunt for a new striker has taken another twist, as it seems that top target Maxi Gomez will be signing for Valencia after all.
The Hammers are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, having released Andy Carroll and sold both Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic.
Manuel Pellegrini’s top target has been Gomez, after the Uruguayan hit 30 goals in 73 outings for Celta Vigo, but a lengthy saga appears to be drawing to an end.
The Daily Star note that, after Celta rejected West Ham’s plan to pay Gomez’s release clause in instalments, they’ve now agreed to sell him to Valencia instead.
That leaves West Ham going back to the drawing board for a new centre forward to target, but fans certainly seem to know who Pellegrini should be going for.
Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller has starred in Germany, racking up 15 goals and nine assists last season whilst impressing with many of the attributes that made Gomez a target; his physical attributes as a target man and his finishing.
The 25-year-old Frenchman may be difficult to sign given that Frankfurt have already sold strike partner Luka Jovic this summer, but Hammers fans are desperate to see the club move for Haller.
Many have taken to Twitter to suggest that Haller has to be target number one, believing he’s exactly what West Ham need, even telling David Gold to throw money at Frankfurt to try and get a deal done for the former Auxerre and Utrecht man.
