The Hammers full-back is on loan at Nottingham Forest and has played 90 minutes for the first time since August in a Under-23s game.
West Ham United full-back Sam Byram has completed his first 90 minutes of action for eight months as he featured for Nottingham Forest’s reserves on Monday afternoon.
The 25-year-old went out on loan at the City Ground last summer but suffered a serious knee injury against Newcastle United in August’s Carabao Cup game after just 39 minutes.
Byram went back to London for treatment, underwent surgery on his knee in September and has been slowly working his way back to fitness ever since, still on loan with the Championship side, as reported by Football London.
The right-back has been eased back into action over the past few weeks and got his first 90-minute spell under his belt as Forest’s Under-23s side beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in the Professional Development League (official Forest website).
Byram has endured an injury-plagued few years at the East London club, having missed 17 games of the 2016-17 season with a hamstring injury and 15 games in 2017-18 after injuring a thigh muscle, according to Football London.
Admittedly, his West Ham future appears uncertain given the arrival of Ryan Fredericks and Ben Johnson emerging from the Under-23s, and some Hammers fans on Twitter have been wondering what he’s been up to in recent months:
