West Ham United’s start to the season took another bump on Saturday afternoon as they lost 2-1 at home to Bournemouth after taking the lead.

The Hammers were thrashed 4-0 at Liverpool last weekend, and were looking for a response as they played their first home game of the new campaign.

Manuel Pellegrini was looking for a first win at the London Stadium, and that looked to be on the cards when Marko Arnautovic converted from the penalty spot after a foul on Javier Hernandez.

However, West Ham capitulated in the second half, as Callum Wilson managed to go on a mazy run and score, before Steve Cook landed the winner for the Cherries.

It’s now two defeats in two for West Ham, and fans are understandably unhappy – and took to Twitter to criticise certain players for their performance against Bournemouth.

Defender Fabian Balbuena arrived from Corinthians over the summer in a bargain deal, with the Paraguayan centre back praised over the course of the summer.

However, Balbuena struggled against Bournemouth, putting in a fairly pitiful challenge on Wilson on his run to goal, prompting major criticism from fans on Twitter.

Supporters tore into Balbeuna, suggesting that he was a liability and one of the worst defenders to be seen in a West Ham shirt, adding that he simply isn’t good enough for the Premier League.
