A number of West Ham fans have taken to social media to respond to Declan Rice’s somewhat cryptic tweet, with many wondering whether it is a hint that his new contract may be imminent.

There is a major question mark lingering over Rice’s future. As recently reported by The Times, the youngster earns £3,000-a-week at the London Stadium and talks are ongoing regarding a new deal – though it is said that those discussions have reached an impasse.

Rice told The Times earlier this month that he wants to sign that new contract with the Hammers. And the fans are hopeful that his latest tweet is the slightest suggestion that a breakthrough may have been made.

The 19-year-old has been exceptional for Manuel Pellegrini’s side this season. Rice went into this campaign with many expecting him to fight to hold onto a spot at the heart of the defence.

However, the teenager has predominantly featured in midfield under Pellegrini. And he has arguably been the most impressive performer in the West Ham squad.

So it is absolutely no surprise that several Irons fans on social media are desperately hoping that Rice’s simple tweet provides a reason for optimism as speculation over his future continues.
