Some West Ham United fans on Twitter are excited by a new transfer rumour.
According to The Express, West Ham are keen on signing Getafe defender Djene Dakonam before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The Irons have been linked with signing additional centre-backs but much of the speculation recently has centered around Guillermo Maripan.
But it looks like there’s a new man on Manuel Pellegrini’s radar and here’s how fans of the East London club reacted:
Thing is, can West Ham afford his release clause?
According to The Express, he cannot leave the Spanish club for less than £31 million this summer and that might be a bit too steep for the Hammers, given that they smashed their transfer record in signing £45 million Sebastien Haller last month.
Plus, a centre-back isn’t exactly a priority, given that Pellegrini has Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop, so this one seems unlikely to materialise.
