West Ham United included a number of young prospects in their match day squad for Sunday’s clash with Burnley, but it was the same old faces that kicked off proceedings, with the Hammers ultimately running out 2-1 winners.

Goals from Sofiane Feghouli and Andre Ayew ensured that Sam Vokes’ opener proved to be a mere consolation, meaning Slaven Bilic’s side finished in 11th place despite an up-and-down campaign.

One player who struggled to make any significant impact on the day was January signing Robert Snodgrass and he was replaced by young forward Ashley Fletcher with six minutes of normal-time remaining.

The Scotland international has struggled to replicate the form that earned him a move from Hull City at the turn of the year, managing only two assists in 15 appearances for West Ham to date.

Snodgrass has a contract at the club until 2020 and he will be hoping to turn things round in time for next season, when he will need to prove his worth in what could be a new-look Hammers side.

Still, it was disappointing that some of West Ham’s next generation were only given chances late on while Snodgrass toiled for much of the encounter.
