West Ham United’s Premier League campaign began in abject fashion as they were thrashed at Anfield.

A number of West Ham fans took to Twitter in the wake of the Hammers’ 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on the opening day of the season, with several suggesting that they were quite impressed by Robert Snodgrass’ display at Anfield.
While West Ham were never under any illusions regarding how difficult it would be to clinch any points from their trip to Merseyside, there was undoubtedly plenty of optimism after the Irons enjoyed an incredibly promising summer window.
The appointment of Manuel Pellegrini and signing of some serious players suggested that West Ham will not be at all content with replicating last season’s bottom half finish. But the Reds unquestionably burst their bubble on the opening day.

Snodgrass obviously was not able to make a major impact going forward, but he did receive credit for the way that he showed some energy and impetus to turn things around. He perhaps should have done better for Liverpool’s fourth, but he seemed to be one of the players who emerged from the contest with some praise from the fans.

Here is the best of the reaction to Snodgrass’ display…
