West Ham fans have been reacting on Twitter to the reports that recently emerged from the Daily Mirror that suggested that the Hammers board were planning to hand David Moyes a new long-term deal at the London Stadium.

Moyes has endured an eventful spell in charge of the Irons since signing a deal until the end of the season in the wake of Slaven Bilic’s departure.

The low point undoubtedly came just before the international break in the home clash with Burnley, but three weeks later and the situation looks significantly brighter after they thrashed relegation rivals Southampton.

The victory moved the Hammers five points clear of the bottom three and they boast a game in hand over several of the sides below them in the table so can arguably feel fairly confident that they should have enough to avoid getting sucked back into the battle to beat the drop.

The Mirror reports that the board have now come to the conclusion that Moyes is the right man to take the club forward in the long-term and thus, plan to offer him a new contract in the summer – and he is also keen to remain in the job provided that they stay up. He has already started scouting players for the summer.

However, while there is some support for the job that Moyes has done, a large majority of the fans on social media are disappointed by the reports as they feel that keeping the Scotsman represents a lack of ambition given where the team currently are in the table.

They feel that the club should be aiming their sights higher if they want to move themselves away from the relegation battle next season, while others have a lot of sympathy for the circumstances that Moyes has had to deal with and feel that he deserves the chance to get a summer window under his belt.

Here is the best of the reaction…
