West Ham United fans on Twitter haven’t reacted well to a rumour that Manuel Lanzini has picked up a knock on international duty with Argentina.
According to a journalist at Mundo Albiceleste, the West Ham attacker sat out training on Sunday and could miss the friendly with Spain through injury.
Considering the Irons’ situation, this is a worrying piece of news if true and it remains to be seen how severe the problem is.
David Moyes’s side have a massive relegation six-pointer with Southampton on Saturday and having a player of Lanzini’s capabilities would have been a big boost.
But now West Ham fans are understandably gloomy over the latest rumour about his fitness.
Lanzini hasn’t been firing on all cylinders as of late for the Hammers, but victory over the 18th-placed Saints in East London could see David Moyes’s side potentially move five points clear of the bottom three and give themselves a great chance of avoiding the drop.
As a result, they will really need the likes of Lanzini available, but time will tell whether this rumour has any truth to it.
