West Ham United broke their transfer record for Sebastien Haller last week.
West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has told Football.London that he doesn’t think the club need to sign another striker this summer.
The Hammers splashed the cash on Sebastien Haller last week, breaking their club record to sign the striker from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Haller represents a huge signing for West Ham, with the 25-year-old centre forward now expected to lead the line for years to come.
However, West Ham’s attack still looks a little light. After all, the Hammers have let Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic leave whilst bringing in just one striker.
Pellegrini has now been asked about the situation, and he believes West Ham don’t necessarily need to go out and bring in another striker this summer.
Pellegrini talked up Javier Hernandez and Michail Antonio as his other striking options, believing that he has enough at his disposal for the new season, but wouldn’t totally rule out another signing.
“In this moment, we have Haller who has just arrived at the club and we have Javier Hernandez and Michail Antonio – two players who can play as a striker,” said Pellegrini. “Until the last day, last hour of the transfer market we can make changes but I think at the moment, with those three players, we have good options,” he added.
West Ham fans have been reacting to the comments, with some feeling that it’s ‘pathetic’ that the Hammers are just happy to go with what they have rather than attempting to improve, believing that it Antonio shouldn’t be considered a striking option.
Others think there’s nothing to worry about, and the money would be better spent on a midfielder or defensive help, but there is some concern that West Ham won’t be moving for one more attacker.
