West Ham fans have been commenting on Twitter after watching Patrice Evra’s display during their defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, with many fans suggesting that they hope that he has played his final game for the club.

Evra was signed by the Irons back in February following his departure from Marseille. And heading into the clash with Pep Guardiola’s men, the 36-year-old had made one substitute appearance and two starts – both starts had ended in a 4-1 defeat.

And unfortunately for the Manchester United hero, he marked his third start for the Irons by being beaten 4-1 by the Premier League champions at the London Stadium.

It was the Frenchman who had a major hand in City’s first goal as his attempt to block Leroy Sane’s shot with his head led to the ball flying past Adrian into the opposite corner to the one that the Spaniard was heading towards.

And his afternoon did not improve from there, with City proving relentless in front of goal to storm to the emphatic win that leaves David Moyes’ side just three points above the bottom three heading into the final three games of the campaign.

In response to his performance, a number of West Ham fans have slammed Moyes’ decision to play Evra as part of a back three, while the defender’s display was also slated, with many suggesting that they hope that he will not represent the side again.
