A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports that have emerged from the Daily Mirror which have suggested that Manuel Lanzini is set to be sidelined for the next 15 months, ruling him out of the entirety of next season.

It has been a terrible time for the 25-year-old who would have been hoping to enjoy a career-defining summer after another impressive Premier League campaign. Lanzini finished the season with five goals and six assists in the top flight to ensure that the Hammers finished well away from the bottom three.

Unfortunately for the attacker however, he picked up a knee injury while training with Argentina ahead of the World Cup and the Daily Mirror is now reporting that West Ham have been told that he will miss the next 15 months. Understandably, Lanzini is said to be distraught at the news.

The reports have prompted fans of all different clubs to send messages of support to the playmaker on social media, but for the West Ham supporters, the news is obviously particularly devastating.

Lanzini was a talisman for the club and they would have been hoping that Manuel Pellegrini’s appointment would allow him to be the focal point of a team that is battling considerably higher than they did for much of last season.

And reports of his injury have been met with a lot of disappointment, while some have urged Pellegrini and the Irons hierarchy to act swiftly in the transfer market as replacing Lanzini for the coming season is going to be a huge task, with reported target Felipe Anderson (via Sky Sports) mentioned as a player that needs to arrive quickly.
