Good news is pouring in for West Ham United. The Hammers were mathematically safe from relegation earlier this week and they have now taken a big step in improving their squad for next season.

West Ham announced the permanent signing of Tomas Soucek on a four-year deal today. The Czech international has been a revelation since signing on loan for the club back in the January transfer window.

Soucek scored three times for the Hammers in 12 appearances. The 25-year-old has been a huge threat to the opposition in the box and his defensive performances have shown that he has the balance needed to thrive in the Premier League.

David Moyes claimed that he was delighted with the news and called Soucek a ‘terrific lad with very good physical capabilities’. (West Ham United – official website)

Moyes had his doubters when he returned to the club in December. The former Manchester United boss has kept the Hammers in the top flight against the odds and he has been rewarded by the board.

However, he will need a lot more than just one player. As good a signing as Soucek is, the Hammers need reinforcements in multiple other areas of the pitch.

West Ham fans are sceptical about the club’s plans for this summer’s transfer window but, at this moment, they are delighted with the announcement of Soucek’s signing.
