West Ham United moved themselves one step closer towards Premier League survival with a spirited performance at Stamford Bridge.

Heading into Sunday’s clash with Chelsea, it appeared that Joe Hart had as much chance of earning a permanent move to West Ham as West Brom have of staying in the Premier League this season.

Hart has endured a fairly miserable time and has Adrian’s own dip in form to thank for his recent return to the Hammers goal. But perhaps there may be a slight glimmer of hope for the Englishman that he may be able to stake a claim for another move away with Manchester City this summer and push for a spot at the upcoming World Cup.

That is because the 30-year-old was simply superb in the Irons’ latest game as David Moyes’ men moved themselves one step closer to survival in the Premier League with a 1-1 draw away at Chelsea.

It was a tough afternoon for the Hammers. The Blues put a lot of pressure on the visitors, and Marko Arnautovic, who led the line for West Ham, often looked isolated as it appeared that Chelsea were going to bag the three points.

Cesar Azpilicueta scored shortly before the break, and it could have been a lot more worrying for West Ham if Hart had not produced a string of fine saves to keep the home side at bay.

The Irons would bag an unlikely point as Javier Hernandez scored with just under 20 minutes to go, and Hart would ensure that they would hold onto the draw.

Unsurprisingly, a number of fans expressed their gratitude towards Hart on Twitter after the game with many suggesting that he deserves an enormous amount of praise given the criticism that he has had come his way this season.
