West Ham United’s Javier Hernandez has just done something very questionable on Twitter.

Hernandez came on after 77 minutes as West Ham were thumped 3-0 by Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux last night.

His Mexico team-mate Raul Jimenez struck twice for Wolves in the final 10 minutes to make it a truly dismal visit to the West Midlands for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

The former Real Madrid striker was very poor on the night and you could forgive him if he didn’t send out a post-match tweet, because the responses would’ve been scathing.

If Hernandez was as anonymous on social media in the aftermath as he was on the pitch at Wolves then there’d be no backlash directly, but he wasn’t.

Instead, the 30-year-old hitman retweeted a post from a Mexican account that praised Jimenez, which isn’t as bad as Hernandez directly congratulating his compatriot on Twitter, but it’s the next best – or worst – thing.

Here’s how some West Ham fans reacted:

Hernandez – who didn’t acknowledge the travelling Hammers fans at full time, heading straight down the tunnel – and Jimenez might be friends off the pitch.

But personal relationships must be shelved for on-the-pitch matters and if your mate contributes to your team getting smashed, then perhaps a quiet text is the best way to go about congratulating him.
