West Ham United are reportedly set to be without Jack Wilshere for the next six weeks.

A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports coming from the Guardian this week which have suggested that the Hammers will be without Jack Wilshere for the next six weeks.

Wilshere’s arrival in the summer was always going to be a risky buy given the struggles with injury that he endured during his time on Arsenal’s books. But the Irons were clearly hoping that he could get some luck in his new surroundings.

Unfortunately, the early signs suggest that signing Wilshere may perhaps backfire on the Hammers. The Guardian reports that he suffered a sprained ankle in training and required minor surgery on the problem that ruled him out of the 3-1 victory over Everton at the weekend.

But the Guardian adds that Wilshere is now set to be out for six weeks. And it perhaps says it all that much of the reaction from the West Ham fans on social media does not hint at anger, but rather a feeling that the inevitable has happened.

There is little feeling of shock amongst the Hammers fans. And unfortunately for Wilshere, several supporters are now writing him off becoming a success at the London Stadium.

The injury itself is obviously not so serious that he cannot recover, but many cannot see how Manuel Pellegrini can put much faith in the midfielder in future as relying on him appears to be a risk no longer worth taking.
