West Ham United supporters were not impressed by what they saw from reported target Fyodor Smolov.

West Ham fans have been reacting on Twitter after watching reported target Fyodor Smolov’s performance during the opening game of the 2018 World Cup which saw Russia thrash Saudi Arabia 5-0 in Moscow.
Given that the game pitted the two lowest ranked teams in the tournament against each other, few would have expected to be particularly entertained by the curtain-raiser inside the Luzhniki Stadium. But the hosts made sure that the majority of the crowd had plenty to celebrate.

Yuri Gazinskiy, Artem Dzyuba and Aleksandr Golovin all scored one while Denis Cheryshev bagged a sensational brace as the Russians took a giant step towards ensuring that they will become only the second hosts to miss out on qualifying for the knockout stages.
One player who did not score in the win was Smolov, the man that many expected would find the back of the net if the home side were going to get off to a flyer.

The 28-year-old’s display certainly attracted the attention of West Ham fans. Sky Sports reported in March that the striker – who does boast a very impressive record at club level – had wanted to make the move to the London Stadium before the World Cup began having missed out on a switch to the Irons last summer.
But, while there were some nice touches from the striker during the game, he did not manage to impress many of the Irons supporters who took to social media to express their relief that he has not joined the club.
Here is the best of the reaction to Smolov’s display…
