Fyodor Smolov reportedly wants to join West Ham United – and fans can’t work out why.

West Ham United fans on Twitter are puzzled by the latest report about Fyodor Smolov.
According to Sky Sports, the Russia striker wants to join West Ham this summer and is intent on securing a transfer before the World Cup in his homeland.
The Krasnodar hitman, who has 50 goals in 67 games for the Russian Premier League side, could cost between £10 million and £13 million.
The East Londoners are only two points above the relegation zone and could yet drop down to the Championship come the end of the season.
And some West Ham supporters have questioned why the 28-year-old would want to join them.

Here are some of the responses:
It does seem odd that Smolov would want to join a club whose Premier League status is as precarious as West Ham’s is at the moment.
But David Moyes’s side can potentially move five points clear of the drop zone on Saturday by beating fellow strugglers Southampton.
The Irons are two points and one place above the 18th-placed Saints, so victory at the London Stadium is an absolute must.
