West Ham United midfielder Edimilson Fernandes is coming into some pretty decent goalscoring form in Italy.

West Ham United loanee Edimilson Fernandes scored again on Sunday.

Fernandes, on loan at Fiorentina from West Ham, drilled home an equaliser in yesterday’s 4-1 win at Spal in Serie A.

It was the 22-year-old’s second goal in three games after also scoring in a clash against Udinese earlier this month.

Fernandes, a £5.5 million signing by Slaven Bilic in 2016 [BBC Sport], was deemed surplus to requirements by Manuel Pellegrini last summer.

But some fans of the East London side are adamant that the Chilean must keep him if he returns to England this summer.

Problem is, he might not be returning to West Ham. According to The Standard, the Italian side have the option to buy him permanently when his loan agreement expires and, on this form, they might well take it up.

Despite never settling with the Hammers really, Edimilson could’ve been useful for Pellegrini next season.

Pedro Obiang hasn’t had a brilliant season, while Jack Wilshere has spent most of his debut year with the Irons out injured, as he so often did at Arsenal.

Somebody of Edimilson’s ilk is very much needed in midfield next term, but whether he comes back seems very up in the air right now.
