West Ham United youngster Declan Rice looks set for plenty of chances this season, although the 18-year-old will be disappointed to have been hooked at half time as the Hammers sought a way back into the game after going 1-0 down to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Rice may have made a mistake for Joselu’s opener, but the 18-year-old has seized the opportunity to impress and it was harsh on a player who looks set for a very bright future at the London Stadium.

Slaven Bilic, Manager of West Ham United looks on prior to the Premier League match between Southampton and West Ham United at St Mary's Stadium on August 19, 2017 in Southampton, England.

Rice has featured in all of West Ham’s league and cup games to date, but he has only enjoyed one victory in that time and Hammers boss Slaven Bilic needs to change things up over the international break to ensure his side quickly move away from the drop zone in September.

Newcastle ultimately ran out 3-0 winners with Ciaran Clark and Aleksandar Mitrovic adding to the first half strike, and West Ham fans may be rightly worried about what is to come over the next few months.

That said, the club have some of the best young players in the country coming through their ranks and Rice is arguably the cream of the crop.
