West Ham United ended their Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa this afternoon.
The Hammers went into the final game of the season already guaranteed of safety, so there was little to play for – though that wasn’t the case for Aston Villa, who were pursuing survival.
Villa did actually take the lead through Jack Grealish, but were immediately pegged back as Andriy Yarmolenko nicked a point for West Ham.
Villa did enough to stay up, and the focus will quickly turn to next season, which will begin in September.
West Ham were forced to make a change at left back with both Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku out injured, so Ben Johnson shifted from right back to the left side.
The 20-year-old has impressed on the right of late, and did so again at left back as he made a strong case to be a starter next season.

West Ham fans took to Twitter to react to Johnson’s display, calling him ‘brilliant’ and ‘the real deal’ after such a great performance.
Others believe Johnson is a ‘serious talent’, and believe he has a huge future at West Ham as their first-choice right back or even left back if needed.
