West Ham United left it late to secure three points against Swansea City, with substitute Diafra Sakho sweeping in after fine work from fellow substitute Arthur Masuaku.

The goal came after a late double change from the Hammers saw forwards Javier Hernandez and Andre Ayew replaced, with the latter in particular failing to shine.

Ayew used to be on the books at Swansea, but since his move to West Ham he has flattered to deceive and is one of a number of under-performing players at the London Stadium this season.

The 27-year-old has managed just one goal in seven Premier League games this season, and while he has been in and out of the starting line-up, he has showed little to suggest he deserves to kick matches off week in, week out.

Ayew’s ability to play on either wing or as a secondary striker means he should be a useful addition to West Ham’s squad, but those players are only worth having if they perform, and the Ghana international has work to do in that regard.

West Ham have a number of attacking players in their ranks now. The key for Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is getting the best out of them.
