Former West Ham defender Arbeloa Arbeloa took a cruel view of Slaven Bilic’s sacking – much to the anger of Hammers supporters.

Bilic was fired by the club on Monday with the club sitting in the relegation zone.

Despite the decision to part ways, joint-chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold expressed their admiration for Bilic, and sadness at the club’s predicament, a show of respect towards him with their club statement.

Former Hammers full-back Alvaro Arbeloa did not do the same, intending clear disrespect with his Twitter message – a savage jab at the Croatian, remarking ‘better late than never’.

Arbeloa spent last season at West Ham before retiring, and it was not a successful one.

He could not break into the team and made only four appearances.

There was no obvious public falling out with Bilic – until now – so it is unclear if he had a personal problem with the Croatian or simply felt he was not good enough at his job.

West Ham fans had a strong reaction towards Arbeloa’s comment, criticising the Spaniard’s lack of class.
