West Ham United booked their ticket to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a win at the London Stadium.
A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to praise Xande Silva’s display on his full Hammers full debut – with plenty suggesting that he offers Manuel Pellegrini’s side more than what Lucas Perez provides.
Silva has risen through the Irons’ ranks quickly having only moved to the London Stadium in the summer. The 21-year-old has been superb with the under-23s, scoring seven goals in six Premier League 2 games.
Pellegrini handed Silva a chance from the bench during the defeat to Burnley last month. And he was given a further vote of confidence by being included in the starting lineup for the FA Cup third round tie with Birmingham City on Saturday.
He did not manage to score in the 2-0 win, but he looked lively throughout the contest. Silva had a couple of chances to get onto the scoresheet, and showed plenty of glimpses of quality that left the West Ham fans feeling optimistic about his potential.
Several supporters have taken to social media and suggested that he has immediately pushed himself up the pecking order with his performance on his full debut for the Irons.
Some have compared the Portuguese with Perez and suggested that it is the former who seems to offer more out of the pair, and a couple of fans have even suggested that he needs to be involved in the squad for the league clash with Arsenal next weekend.
