West Ham United are reportedly looking to bring Carl Jenkinson back to the club.

According to a report from the Daily Star, West Ham United are considering a move to re-sign Arsenal right back Carl Jenkinson during the January transfer window.

The Hammers have had a host of problems at right back, as youngster Sam Byram – signed from Leeds United in January – has suffered injury problems as well as some teething problems in the Prermier League.

Veteran Alvaro Arbeloa, a World Cup winner with Spain, was signed on deadline day in August to give Slaven Bilic a veteran option at right back, but he’s also yet to make an impact, forcing Bilic to switch to a 3-4-2-1 system, with either Michail Antonio or Edimilson Fernandes featuring at right wing back.

It’s a situation that can’t go on for West Ham, and reports are now suggesting that they could move to sign a familiar face – Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson.

Jenkinson, 24, spent the 2014-15 season on loan at West Ham under Sam Allardyce, and then spent half of last season on loan at Upton Park, serving as Bilic’s first choice right back before an injury in January ended his stay in East London.

Now coming back to fitness, Jenkinson started for Arsenal in their 3-2 Champions League win over Ludogorets on Tuesday night, but is being linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium given that Hector Bellerin is Arsenal’s first-choice right back.

The Daily Star claim that West Ham are weighing up a move to land Jenkinson for a third time – and fans have taken to Twitter to give their views on a possible move for the Gunners full back.

Some West Ham fans think that Jenkinson would be the solution to the club’s right back problems, suggesting that he’s better than anything West Ham have in the position right now, especially as he’s a proven Premier League player.

However, others weren’t too impressed with his displays in his two loan spells, and aren’t even sure that another right back is needed given that Arbeloa and Byram are already at the London Stadium.
