West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford has reportedly been scouted by Manchester City.

A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports emerging from The Sun which have suggested that Reece Oxford has been scouted by the likes of Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.

Oxford has endured an incredibly difficult time at the London Stadium. It appeared inevitable that he was going to be a stalwart by the time he reached the end of his teenage years after his stunning Premier League debut against Arsenal as a 16-year-old.

However, the defender has barely featured for the Irons since that day. He has been out on loan with both Reading and Borussia Monchengladbach, but has spent most of his time in the under-23s this season.

But despite his inability to break into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans, it appears that he could have some very exciting offers put in front of him before too long.

The Sun reports that the Premier League champions are keen, while Dortmund and Hoffenheim joined City in scouting the 19-year-old during a recent under-23 game and were weighing up potential moves for the youngster.

The West Ham fans obviously had extremely high hopes for Oxford, but many on social media do not appear to be alarmed by the interest coming from a couple of European heavyweights.

They are resigned to the fact that Oxford is unlikely to make the grade with the Hammers, so selling him may be a smart move before his value drops any further.
