West Ham United are reportedly considering a move for Rafael on a free transfer this summer.

Several West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Sun on Sunday (31/3; page 59) over the weekend suggesting that the Hammers could make a move for Rafael this summer.
The Irons’ right-backs have had a mixed campaign. Pablo Zabaleta has continued to be a good servant for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, and Ryan Fredericks has come on significantly as the season has gone on.
But with Zabaleta well into the twilight of his career, Pellegrini appears to have one eye on a possible addition to his options this summer. The Sun on Sunday (31/3; page 59) reports that the Hammers are interested in Rafael, and the former Manchester United man would welcome the chance to return to the Premier League as his Lyon contract runs into its final months.
Rafael has enjoyed a decent season in Ligue 1. He has been rotated for much of the year, and has also made three Champions League appearances for his current club this term.

Interestingly, the West Ham fans on social media have been divided by the reports. One thing that should be noted is that there appears to be little criticism regarding the reported plan to target Rafael. Some are optimistic that he would be a good signing.
However, some supporters are not happy that the club appear to be looking at more free transfers ahead of the summer. Rafael could be a shrewd addition, but it seems that some are concerned that there may be more shopping to be done in the bargain bin this summer.

Here is what some of the West Ham fans make of the reports…
