A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports emerging from Sky Sports suggesting that the Hammers are plotting a move for Maxi Gomez as they consider potential replacements for Marko Arnautovic.

Arnautovic’s future has a major question mark lingering over it. Sky Sports reports that Shanghai SIPG have seen a £35 million bid rejected by the Irons, and the Premier League side are yet to receive an improved offer.

The report suggests that Arnautovic is keen to leave the club, and the Hammers could respond by making a move for Celta Vigo star Gomez after attempting to sign the 22-year-old during the summer.

Gomez is thought to have a £45 million release clause, according to the report, and that is much more than West Ham are willing to pay.

But judging by some of the fans comments, it would appear that many of the supporters would love to see the club make a move happen as plenty feel that he would be a very exciting replacement for Arnautovic.

The youngster has scored 26 La Liga goals since the start of last season, and would provide plenty of pace and power to West Ham’s forward line if he did arrive.

Some have even suggested that they would much rather have Gomez leading the line for the Hammers than Arnautovic, so it would seemingly be a very popular move from the Irons if it did happen.
