Several West Ham fans on Twitter do not appear to be happy with reports emerging from the Daily Mail over the weekend which have suggested that the Hammers are considering a loan bid for Kostas Mitroglou.

The Irons have endured a mixed start to the season. After kicking off the campaign with a number of defeats, Manuel Pellegrini’s men appear to have turned a corner recently.

Their 4-2 win over Burnley on Saturday saw the Hammers play some scintillating football at times and it would be a huge surprise if they found themselves anywhere near the relegation zone come the business end of the season.

Nevertheless, there have to be concerns regarding the amount of depth behind Marko Arnautovic. Javier Hernandez proved a point with a goal against Burnley, but the Hammers undoubtedly look a much less daunting side to come up against if the Austrian is missing.

Pellegrini appears to have an idea of how to potentially resolve that issue, with the Mail reporting that he is keen on a possible loan move for Mitroglou, who Marseille may be willing to let go of as they look to cut the wage bill.

For most Irons fans, Mitroglou is best known as the man that endured a nightmare spell at Fulham earlier in his career. But his form since leaving Craven Cottage has been significantly better and he has scored three Ligue 1 goals in nine appearances this term. He has started just four times.

Mitroglou warms up during a Olympique de Marseille training session at Centre Robert-Louis Dreyfus on November 2, 2018 in Marseille, France.

He may have managed to put his Fulham spell behind him, but many of the West Ham supporters are adamant that he should not be on their shopping list in the winter, even on loan.

Here is what some of the fans make of the reports…
