A number of West Ham United fans were impressed by Joe Hart’s performance for Burnley at the weekend.

Despite previously working together, it seemed to surprise few when Manuel Pellegrini decided against trying to keep Joe Hart at West Ham following his appointment in the summer.

Hart was once head and shoulders ahead of any other English goalkeeper and has arguably been the Premier League’s best at various stages during his career. But his form while at the London Stadium last season was incredibly disappointing despite a couple of bright displays for the Irons.

His time with the Hammers suggested that he may be in for a frustrating year in the background at Manchester City, but Burnley offered him a fresh challenge in the wake of the serious injury suffered by Nick Pope.

And it appears that the deal could actually turn out to be a masterstroke if his latest performance is anything to go by. Hart was superb as the Clarets suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolves on Sunday. Without the stopper’s high-quality display, the score would have easily been a lot more emphatic.

Hart made a string of fine saves, particularly in the first-half, to keep the newly-promoted side at bay. It was the kind of performance that did not escape the attention of the West Ham fans on social media.

Luksaz Fabianski’s solid start to life with the Irons has made Hart’s form much easier for the West Ham supporters to take, but several could not hide their frustration or amazement at his display at Molineux given his form for much of last year.
