West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing James Tarkowski this summer with Manuel Pellegrini given a £75 million budget.

James Tarkowski of Burnley gets away from Dominic Solanke of Liverpool during the Premier League match between Burnley and Liverpool at Turf Moor on January 1, 2018 in Burnley, England.

West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports that recently emerged from the Daily Mirror which suggested that Manuel Pellegrini is set to target Burnley defender James Tarkowski as he prepares to start spending a £75 million transfer kitty.

Pellegrini was confirmed as David Moyes’ successor earlier this week and it appears that the Hammers board are going to need little encouragement to back the Chilean in the transfer market.

The Mirror reports that the club’s owners are ready to hand Pellegrini £75 million as the Irons look to ensure that they find themselves nowhere near the relegation zone in the Premier League next season.

And the Mirror adds that amongst the players on Pellegrini’s shortlist is Clarets star Tarkowski as well as Newcastle stalwart Jamaal Lascelles. It is not difficult to see why the Hammers are eyeing some of the top flight’s most impressive centre-backs given that no side conceded more goals than the Irons this past season.

The links with Tarkowski have received a mixed response amongst some of the Irons fans on Twitter. There have been some supporters who feel that Tarkowski may struggle at the London Stadium or have absolutely no desire to make the move when Burnley have Europa League football to look forward to next term.

However, there are also those who believe that it would be an inspired signing and a fantastic way to kick off the Pellegrini era at the club. Few in England were more impressive than the 25-year-old in his position this past season, so landing him this summer would be a coup.
