Several West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Grady Diangana’s performance during the Irons’ defeat to Manchester United at the weekend, and it appears that plenty remain unconvinced that he is ready for the first-team at the London Stadium.

Diangana came on with just under half an hour remaining at Old Trafford. At the time, the Hammers were hoping to bag a winner, but Manuel Pellegrini’s men would concede a second penalty in the latter stages and lose 2-1.

It was an incredibly frustrating day for the supporters. But while the officials took the brunt of their criticism, there were also a few players within the Irons side whose performances were questioned.

And Diangana was one of those. The 20-year-old burst onto the scene in stunning fashion with a brace on his senior debut in a Carabao Cup tie with Macclesfield back in September, and he arguably continued to look bright for several weeks after as Pellegrini continued to hand him first-team chances.

However, he has not managed to make much of an impact since, and that has left a number of West Ham supporters questioning whether everyone got a little carried away in their initial praise of the academy graduate.

Some have suggested that he needs a loan move to the Championship next season, while others are just not convinced that he is going to develop into a good enough player to be involved in the first-team in the coming years.
