West Ham United served up a dismal display on Saturday afternoon, losing 2-0 away at Everton to make it two defeats in a row.

The Hammers had looked like challengers for the top six last month, but a home defeat to Crystal Palace before the international break meant Manuel Pellegrini needed a big response.

Sadly for Pellegrini, that didn’t happen at all, as his side turned in a listless performance in the first half, with Bernard beating two challenges to prod Everton in front.

West Ham attempted to get back into the game in the second half, but their defeat was sealed late on with Gylfi Sigurdsson smashing home a long-range stunner.

Pellegrini must now find answers ahead of next weekend’s clash with Sheffield United, and one of his solutions may yet be to drop Felipe Anderson.

The Brazilian playmaker was anonymous in the first half on Saturday, and was hooked at half-time, with Andriy Yarmolenko brought on for him.

£85,000-a-week star Anderson, 26, was superb last season but after some encouraging displays last month, has slipped into some troubling form.

West Ham fans took to Twitter to slate Anderson, suggesting that he is ‘too arrogant’ and has been ‘stealing a living’ in his recent performances.

Some branded Anderson ‘frustrating’, even comparing him to Chelsea’s Kenedy, whilst claiming that he was even worse than Pablo Fornals in a ‘woeful’ performance.
