West Ham United’s Arthur Masuaku in action with Watford’s Stefano Okaka
West Ham United have been dealt another injury blow at left-back – with the news that French defender Arthur Masuaku will be out of action for around six weeks after suffering knee ligament damage.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic played down the injury immediately after it happened against Accrington Stanley in the EFL Cup this week. However, it has become clear today that the summer signing will have to spend a significant time on the sidelines.
Signed from Olympiakos in the summer the defender came in to provide cover in the position after a similar injury suffered by first-choice defender Aaron Cresswell.
He is due back in action after the international break and West Ham will be pleased about this.
West Ham United’s Arthur Masuaku injured on the sidelines
The French defender has impressed during his time at West Ham, although he did have a game to forget against West Brom in the Premier League at the weekend.
In his absence West Ham are likely to use one of Angelo Ogbonna, Sam Byram or Alvaro Arbeloa in the left-back position until Cresswell returns from his injury lay-off.
