West Ham United are in the market for signings after appointing Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager.
West Ham United have a new manager at the helm, after confirming the arrival of veteran Manuel Pellegrini earlier today.
The Hammers parted ways with David Moyes last week following the end of the Premier League season, and they have wasted little time in finding his successor.
Pellegrini, 64, returns to the Premier League two years after leaving Manchester City, and the Chilean already has transfer targets in mind according to reports.
Firstly, The Mirror report that Pellegrini could call on former club Manchester City for a favour, as he is keen to take midfielder Phil Foden on loan for the season.
The 17-year-old is one of English football’s top young prospects, and whilst he made a handful of first-team appearances under Pep Guardiola this season, a loan move to West Ham could see him play regularly under Pellegrini.
Elsewhere, The Mirror also add that Pellegrini is keen on West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon, having worked together with strong results at Malaga.
The Venezuelan hitman, 28, could be available following West Brom’s relegation, and if Pellegrini pursues a traditional centre forward, then Rondon – who hit 10 goals this season – may fit the bill.
West Ham fans have been taking to Twitter to offer their view, with Rondon dividing opinion between those who think he isn’t good enough, and those who are willing to see if he can impress under Pellegrini again – but a move for Foden really excited Hammers fans, who want to see the teenagers in the famous claret and blue shirt next season.
