West Ham United fans have been reacting to the reports that Marko Arnautovic is attracting attention from one of their Premier League rivals.
West Ham fans have been reacting on Twitter to the reports coming from Gianluca Di Marzio which suggested that Manchester United could consider a summer move for Marko Arnautovic.
Like the Hammers as a whole, Arnautovic endured a turbulent season at the London Stadium. He did not score a single goal between his arrival and Slaven Bilic’s departure and looked destined, at that stage, to go down as one of the biggest flop signings the club has made for a long time.
However, David Moyes’ appointment appeared to be the catalyst for the most dramatic of transformations that saw the Austrian end the campaign as the side’s leading goalscorer in the Premier League with 11 strikes to his name.
It may not be too far wide of the mark to suggest that his goals were a key reason why the Irons managed to stay in the top flight having spent much of the campaign in and around the bottom three.
But perhaps new manager Manuel Pellegrini may have to think about replacing the 29-year-old before he gets the chance to properly work with him as Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is considering Arnautovic as he makes plans to try and bolster the club’s attacking options this summer.
Arnautovic briefly worked with Mourinho during a loan spell at Inter Milan, but that was certainly not a success. And the West Ham fans are hoping that his pursuit proves similarly unsuccessful if he does decide to pursue the forward.
Arnautovic is an extremely popular player at the London Stadium, and the West Ham fans have made it clear on social media that losing him this summer should not be an option.
