West Ham loanee Hugill scored Boro’s winner against Rochdale.

Jordan Hugill opened his account for loan side Middlesbrough as the West Ham United striker scored the winner for Middlesbrough in their 2-1 win over Rochdale on Tuesday night – and some Hammers fans have reacted on Twitter.
Hugill, 26, joined West Ham in January from Preston for £10million (BBC Sport) but failed to break into the side under David Moyes, making just three substitute appearances for the east Londoners.
He was one of only two signings made by Moyes, the other being Joao Mario on loan from Inter Milan, but he struggled to break his way past the likes of Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez.
Manuel Pellegrini decided to usher the target man out on loan to Middlesbrough, and he opened his account on his full start Tony Pulis’ side as they edged past League One side Rochdale with a narrow 2-1 win.

Marvin Johnson opened the scoring, before Hugill got on the end of a cross to head home expertly from eight yards out. Boro held on to the win despite Ryan Delaney reducing the deficit to one goal with seven minutes remaining.
Some West Ham fans reacted on Twitter after hearing that Hugill got his name on the score sheet on Tuesday night in the second round of the Carabao Cup at the Riverside. One fan posted: “Wish you got a proper chance at West Ham”.
